We continue on our journey in the big process of change that prods us forward despite our sentimental attachments to a way of life that was pre-2008. As we have battled demons and proposed new dreams, we have realized our new requirements for a brighter future; a new vision that does not allow us through the door of the past, but offers hope for a new cycle of elevated
growth. Even as we hope and dream, we are almost afraid of our new expectations. However, since the Scorpio and Taurus eclipses began this spring, which gave us opportunity for our cardinal expectations of the areas of Cancer and Capricorn in our chart, we have felt a push to step out onto the water of hope in a brave attempt to walk. Around April and May, this spark of hope ignited with new information that opened a pathway out of the darkness. Then in June, the great and benefic planet Jupiter, the planetary energy offering expansion of hope, gifts, luck, learning, travel, education and aspiration glided into the sign of Cancer. The sign of Cancer marks one of the biggest areas of our lives that was torn apart by the Grand Cross in the summer of 2010 with its earlier degrees opposed by Pluto and squared by Uranus over the past couple of years. This area has been tormented and we have obsessed over our wounds as they required change that seemed nowhere in sight.(Please see the end of this article for that area of life Cancer rules according to your Suns sign so that this article makes sense if you are new to astrology). Make no mistake, for those of us who have the cardinal signs of Cancer, Libra, Capricorn and Aries in our chart at early degrees, the darkness of Pluto and the sudden attacks of Uranus have torn at the very fabric of our lives.
Friends, now there is great news! Jupiter has arrived and is on our side in this battle, not here to save us but to teach us how to save ourselves. You see, Jupiter is here to offer healing and protection. This energy is just what God ordered. In fact, Jupiter is moving through Cancer to cross and oppose many of the degrees of the eclipses that took place from 2009- 2011, known to be some of the most profound eclipses because of the planetary configurations at this time. Now, as Jupiter the healer, touches these points that caused so much pain and conflict, it is literally like medicine on a wound for the first time. You see, without a major planet crossing an eclipse point, the magnitude of the eclipse becomes similar to a live wire. Once a major planet crosses over the point, closure will come in one form or another. What better planet to cross over than one who seeks to bring health and happiness to this area of lfe? And yet, Jupiter is also a great teacher. This summer, we must begin to understand what was torn down not just within our lives but inside of us and what needs to be rebuilt. Our realizations are part of a deeply faceted growth (already in progress since 08) that reaches into the core of our very belief system, redefining world views and our life purpose. To make the best progress we need to realize the emotional needs that drive us to direction in life. To truly face emotional fears, we must agree to not accept anything that is not grounded in truth. What do we need to be happy, and why? Then we must ask why beyond that. What is it that you need that you have been denied? Does this denial trigger escapist behavior through addiction, secrets, and other destructive behaviors? You have got to dig that deep! For once, this summer, be truly honest with yourself. You cannot say well, I am attached to this (or him or her) because of “x” and so I deserve to do “y” to fulfill what it is that I am missing. All the while, more emotional baggage is spilling out at key points so that it becomes a vicious cycle of covering needs, making deals, and repeating behavior that allows pain to continue. Even if you cannot pull yourself away from what it is that is not conducive to a healthy lifestyle( mentally, physically and spiritually), go and stand in front of the mirror and say to your self, “I recognize what is wrong. I know that it needs to change. I CAN do this, starting now.” I promise you as you start deleting the things that are not working, haven’t worked and aren’t going to, the universe will get behind you and you will begin to experience freedom in letting go. Some are already working on this and some will release before 2016.
Over the past few weeks we have been allowed a beautiful breakthrough in the area that Cancer rules in our charts. This dream
did not raise the dead; it re-allowed a symbol of the past to arise but in a completely different way. On top of this healing gift, Jupiter joined Saturn and Neptune in a Grand Trine formation that despite the Sun, Venus, Mercury and Mars
oppositions we have faced since June that required many challenges in building our new dream and path to healing, the trine made our constant efforts hope driven and continues to elevate our dreams to a work in progress. At this point,
after the trials of recent years, the fact that we are allowed headway towards our new vision after being stuck for so long is healing by itself!
On August 7th, Jupiter will move into opposition with Pluto signifying that as our hopes are raised and progress has been made, we may be asked to face another obstacle; one that perhaps seeks to hide information or threatens to take our power away once again. Fear, that big demon of our psyche, may begin to try and undermine any happiness that we have accumulated. With
Jupiter present however, these doubts will be counteracted by what we have already learned: that even if we cannot see the light, we know it is there even after the darkest night of our soul. We cannot be shrouded in darkness forever, but in one way or another we will be delivered! Sometimes we just need to direct ourselves to what we know to be light. I believe the reason that our new dreams and hopes are being tested in August in this type of way is because we need to temper our new expectations with the needs that nurture our soul. Cancer, a mothering and nurturing energy, is being expanded by Jupiter’s presence in her sign. Pluto questions our new found authority and attachments to tear away any overzealous and false expectations of our new beginnings. In some ways, it is like a movie of the past is being replayed. Some old characters return, the scenes are familiar, yet our struggles of the past are redefining the plot with our post-2008 acquired beginnings. What is this, a second chance at an alternate version of the old life? (Twilight Zone music plays)I suspect it seems so, but in reality we have spent so much time replaying the importance of the life taken away, that we may have pointed our compass in the direction of an opportunity to go there again because something needed to be revisited. This story is not over, because we have many more aspects to face before 2015. So, if you have encased yourself in a new life with false pretenses or characters that are still unhealthy, know
that the universe is narrowing in with a laser of elimination. Think of this as a 7 year challenge (2008 through 2016), and the opportunities remaining demand choices that are made in self-awareness.
Despite the repercussions, it is quite a relief that Jupiter is available in Cancer to sort through the corrupted hard drives of our existence in his engagement with Pluto. We will be better for it and his transit there will make it so much easier to let go of what it is that we need to in order to move forward to a successful future. Shortly after Jupiter opposes Pluto, Jupiter will square Uranus, the planet that seeks to push us in our quest for change and sudden manifestations that require change will argue with our past attachments that we seem determined to drag into the future. Do not worry, what you let go of now could be your greatest blessing of change to date! Overall, the world may hear of news involving situations requiring emergency effort during this time. Keep this in mind if traveling, as Uranus in Aries seems to bring out the fast and furious in people when experiencing a square aspect.
The Jupiter/Pluto opposition starts on August 7, and will dissipate by August 11th. What is also significant about this aspect is that the last Jupiter/Pluto opposition was in 2001 just before Jupiter’s entry into Cancer. I think reflection of a cycle that perhaps began in middle/late 2001-2002 is in order for clues in what you appreciate in life now as opposed to then. What deep
seeded feelings led you to decisions that year? How did hope play a role in your life and just what did you gloss over in order to accomplish your dreams? While Pluto narrowed in on Gemini then, a new cycle of change and hope perhaps emerged
shortly after that and ended around 2008 or definitely by the Cardinal Climax in the summer of 2010. It is important as we leave things behind not to grab ahold of just anything that we can cling to for fear of falling.
Occuring a day before the Jupiter/Pluto official opposition, is a New Moon in Leo. New moons signal a two week period of new
beginnings with a full moon following a couple of weeks thereafter, which adds another chapter to the events taking place within the round about two week period. This month, Leo and Aquarius become the focus of the new and full moons.
Leo and Aquarius are on the same axis in the zodiac; they are partners who share similarities and opposite polarities. Here is where it gets interesting this month! The Full Moon will occur in Aquarius on August 20th (the full moon in July was also in Aquarius and a super moon) signifying that Leos and Aquarians in particular will have to accomplish personal goals within their relationships. Matters of emotional importance may be prevalent and with Jupiter currently in Cancer opposing Pluto, daily routines, health and secrets may be obstacles that require the strength of a partner or if there is none, nuances in regard to a partners lack of support may arise for review at the climax of the full moon. Some of you may be dealing with both your health and that of a partner. If you are not a Leo or Aquarian, please check the part of your chart that Leo and Aquarius rule for you. While the New Moon ushers in the Jupiter/Pluto opposition the full moon underlines it as one day later as Jupiter will square Uranus on August 21st, and the sudden push for change around then may be at odds with the same components of your life that you have deemed worthy to cross the threshold of the new door you now have open. Consider that some initiation of change may be ubiquitous in the areas of your chart ruled by Leo and Aquarius. In this case, we need to reconsider our roles as leaders, our expression of self and the way in which we give and receive information.
Eventually, we will rid ourselves of these people and problems, but it seems many are still holding on to the hope that THEY will
change, or that circumstances will change on their own. Life requires work it seems; nasty emotional work that leaves us bleeding. I believe that this summer, the cuts of the past have already been deep and the scars are enough to remind us to move forward towards the betterment of self no matter what shows up to thwart us off of our new and chosen path. So, no matter what comes up between the 7th and 21st of August, hang on to Jupiter’s faith and courage. Trust your instincts, and deny obsessive behaviors. The beautiful dream that was manifested this summer is what you have been wishing for so do not let go of it.
Strangely, looking back for clues to how you have arrived at the path you are on today, one day that may correspond to your current realizations is August 21st is September 21, 2010 when Jupiter was conjunct Uranus and opposed the Sun. That day was different as Jupiter and Uranus were nearing their end in Pisces, yet their run-in occurred just after the Cancer eclipse and while we were in the throws of Saturn in Libra in the terrible Grand Cross and Cardinal Climax that left us gasping for air in a sea of destruction. Try to pinpoint that time. What were you so terribly afraid of and what were you trying to control so that you could hold on to it? What seeds of jealousy, obsession, death and change rocked your very existence and helped you to view these characteristics of Pluto in a different way? Were you the hero or were you helpless? Let me be clear here. There is always an element of life left to fate. Yet, despite circumstances inflicted upon us, our reactions are self-willed. Knowing this, how do you wish to react in your new life? What foundations are required that would allow you to face life with this new gift of knowledge that interjects the case for compassion and understanding over freedom of selfish desires?
Astrology is knowledge that is a tool for soul evolvement. Knowing that we in this time period have been allowed an opportunity for changing the foundation of thought and purpose of our human existence while allowed personal and powerful psychological healing in this lifetime, is such a wonderful gift. Now as transformation begins, arm yourselves with the truth that the cardinal lessons continue. You have come too far to make the same mistakes and yet you are now compassionate enough to understand how mistakes can be made by others. Redefine your direction and adjust your dreams in the great and many opportunities presented by Jupiter in Cancer before he moves on next summer. Take notes to track unhappy triggers, especially notable when the moon falls in a cardinal sign.
Jupiter in Cancer will have many gifts to offer us in transforming our lives over the next year. Courage and hardwork have been
offered a nurturing platform that instills growth and makes our new changes so much easier. Be well friends, and may your observations teach you real and lasting truth.
