Eclipses are major points of fate in our lifetime. That are the important events, the crossroads of change. When you think back to a death, a wedding, a birth or other major significant event, you can be sure that the eclipses prior to this event tell the story of its unfolding. Every eclipse is different and is shaped by the positive or negative aspects that it makes to the surrounding cosmic bodies at the time of its occurrence. Understanding how these energies will play out can give you a little bit of control if you plan enough in advance. That is the beautiful thing about astrology, because its signs are evident once you learn to speak the language of the stars. While we are never fully in control here on Earth, we are given the gift of freewill, which allows us to guide our lives in certain directions at given moments. The eclipses can certainly offer us a sign and definitely tell us the subjects that will be centered around our lives at the time of their occurrence.
Because changes are so great during eclipses, it is important not to schedule big events on their dates as everyone will be caught up in the great stage of change. I suppose I could say that positive eclipses fare better and it may be possible then, but the general rule is to avoid the specific dates for things like surgery, weddings, business deals, etc. You want to give the energy a couple of weeks to clear out so that emotions are more even and minds have a greater chance of functioning smoothly. This is especially true for lunar eclipses.
Solar Eclipse, September 12th, 2015 at 20 Degrees Virgo
The first big change of the fall of 2015 is brought to us by the solar eclipse on September 12th, in Virgo at 20 degrees. This eclipse promises some sort of emotional guidance as The Virgin, is generally a nurturer by heart. On a mundane level, Virgo rules the 8th of “the people” signified by Aquarius, and if our world were being viewed as a whole, we will see lots of financial changes, death, divorce, insurance endeavors, property, joint resources, sexual issues, addiction, and issues of control, jealousy and possessiveness. While the 8th house denotes endings, it is also about the process of transformation as it is linked to the characteristics of Plutonian ruled Scorpio. This will be the energy that will be made prevalent in the media and may color each of our lives, despite our sun signs, to a small degree.
The biggest feeling that I get in looking at the eclipse chart is that there is a kind of “ready, set, go” surrounding the events that are to take place. While the eclipse is not in a negative aspect with Pluto, if it were just a few degrees less, it would have made a very perfect trine to Pluto which would have definitely offered a new transformation around the date of the eclipse--a prize of healing, a gift of material gain, a revived romance, etc. Instead, it seems as if the transformation is not ready quite yet, but I do believe it is coming within the next six months! I say this because Jupiter, planet of expansion and blessings, is poised in Virgo with the eclipse at the time of its occurrence but it is too far away to have strong implications. Instead Jupiter will cross the eclipse degree November 23rd, but it will begin to trine Pluto within two degrees by September 27th. So, I think that September 27th through November 23rd will bring the positive activation of this eclipse. Mars, the action planet, will also cross this eclipse degree on October 29th, activating us all to get moving. So from the end of September through December we really see the eclipse begin to work for us, and at the end of October, early November, it is hustle time! By the time we reach the end of November, we are beginning to reap the rewards of our newly input changes as Jupiter joins the eclipse degree and this will lead us into the next eclipse season due to begin next March. I hope that you can see that this eclipse, however bumpy it starts out, will have the potential to carry you away from the madness of some of the struggles we have experienced especially since the ferocious lunar eclipse of April took place.
The Mercury retrograde that is coming up at 15 degrees of Libra coming up on the 17th of September to last through the 9th of October, will be the block of this eclipse as it will reactivate the former, ferocious eclipse of April. We have been experiencing this eclipse energy over the summer, as Pluto retrograded back to trigger the eclipse. Mercury is also the ruler of Virgo, so we can expect that an event surrounding the eclipse of April is somehow linked to the coming eclipse in Virgo. There is an issue that must be revisited before new changes can be implemented. When Mercury does turn direct (See Side Notes below.)
Side Note: You may ask how the eclipse of April can continue onward after the September solar eclipse occurs. Wouldn’t the new eclipse cancel out the older one? Celeste Teal has a theory that I have found to be true, and her book Eclipses made me rethink the profound effects of these events and timing on our charts. Her theory is that especially strong eclipses (meaning more than three hard aspects in transit or to natal planets) must have a major planet such as Saturn or Jupiter to conjunct or oppose the eclipse degree to fully deactivate it. The eclipse of April finished up a major seven year trial of Grand Crosses and squares that involved Pluto and Uranus. The eclipse was/is harsh and announced that a major adjustment would have to take place to bring healing and closure to the past seven years of struggle, that will be talked about for years to come. The eclipse had major aspects that will hopefully dwindle down and lucky us, because Jupiter will conjunct the eclipse degree next year in 2016, fully deactivating it.
Although Venus will be direct in Leo at the time of the September solar eclipse, it will not be out of the shadow fully until after October 9th around the same day that Mercury goes direct! Coincidence? No, dear friends, matter of synchronicity are symphonies in the stars. So at the time that the solar eclipse occurs in September, we just begin to get our heads out of the clouds about relationships or finances. Yet, with the eclipse occurring in the shadow, it seems that the tests of the next six months still have us adjusting in these areas.
Lunar Eclipse, September 27th 2015, at 5 Degrees of Aries
Two weeks after the solar eclipse occurs in Virgo, a lunar eclipse takes place on September 27th, at 5 degrees of Aries. Aries is ruled by Mars and is a fiery concoction of energy. Because this eclipse occurs at an early Cardinal degree, it may reactivate some of the turmoil and frustration of the past few years. Mercury retrograde will oppose this eclipse bringing emotional reactions based on previous news, miscommunication and conversation. Venus (still in the shadow) will trine Uranus and out of all of the confusion, there is at least one good thing that emerges from the chaos in the form of relationships or money. I would be willing to say that some of you may revisit old relationships but may come to the conclusion that you have to let someone go. New offers that were on the table, may be snaffled by details that seem to evade you. Did I mention that Pluto will be squaring the Mercury retro just before this eclipse occurs? Yes, someone is coming on forcefully—prodding, poking and looking for the truth. Ouch! There are definite blocks in communication and things just seem to be out of control. I am sorry to report this and I am not looking forward to this either. I believe that this eclipse will be extremely frustrating for all of us. It reminds me of a murder mystery game and no one is allowed to talk. The Sabian symbol for this eclipse is “a triangle with wings.” Eerily, I see that triangle with Pluto and the Mercury retro forming a wide angled T-Square with the eclipse. Add the North Node also in opposition and we have a situation in which intent with purpose is being hijacked, others are in control and communication reveals harbingers and hang-ups. With Pluto and Mercury Rx aligning with the previous degrees of the April eclipse, I think it is fair to say that this is not going to be a warm and fuzzy eclipse. Early Cardinals of Aries, Libra, Capricorn and Cancer will be heavily affected by this energy.
Many of us should watch out for the well-being of our female family members and friends. Females should take precautions with their own health, especially their female reproductive organs. If you are pregnant, please rest during the week leading up to this eclipse and the week after. As this energy plays out in your own life, be sure to uphold the female energies around you and in you. Respect your own sensitivity level as emotions will be at an all time high.
In summary, for the masses, or “the people”, as denoted by the sign of Aquarius, many will notice events within their community, final communication, decisions around education or travel, legal or internet related activities, that really bring challenges to home or family related situations. New beginnings in financial opportunities, property matters, trust, intimacy, joint resources, divorce and death may be related to the emotional disruptions that will take at least six months to adapt.
Here is a scenario: John’s financial situation has been in a bit of a dilemma for some time. Recently, he applied for a new job, but it would require moving his children away from his family and to a new home out of state. John steps out in faith and puts his house on the market, hoping to make a small profit that will help him settle in the new location.
At the solar eclipse in September, John gets an offer he cannot refuse on the house and gets the job. However, his children would like to stay with their grandparents to finish out the school year. John is faced with an emotional dilemma, and so he must choose what is best for his family. To make matters worse, his sister steps in to confront his parents for even considering the children staying with them because she feels that her children will be left out.
The best way to handle the eclipse energy is not to make any brash moves. Make sure each possibility is well-thought out and be mindful that not everyone will be reacting logically. Attend to your families, especially females. If one certain female would like to walk away from you, do not chase them. Let them go. Likewise, anyone that would like to walk out of your life during eclipse time, male or female, should really just leave. The eclipses and decisions made around them change all matters, courtesy of the universe. We can never walk back through that door again. You cannot “unknow” someone once they have shown you their true self.
