A Retro Christmas
Venus’ energy has been assigned to various personalities throughout history: The Goddess of Love (romance and beauty), Jesus (the epitome of love and compassion), and Satan( temptation, trickery, jealousy, revenge). In reality, each planet is descriptive of a force that operates on various octaves of energy, which when coupled with other energies, can still
retain its original characteristics, but its effects will be changed. This year’s retrograde in Capricorn brings the influence of Saturn and Pluto, the energies of stability and wild transformation, respectively. Saturn places restrictions upon us and cools our feelings. Pluto offers us temptation in lust, and compulsive sensations or temptation of reckless abandonment. Honestly, it’s more like reckless boredom. These attributes given to Venus when she is operating at her lowest point, may provoke some to love and spend out of monotony. Mind games, irritation, exhaustion of trying to make things work, the
complacent tendency to rely on the same old problems, spending money to fill gaps of unhappiness; these are all issues that will arise during the Venus retrograde.
Venus is the ruler of two zodiac signs in Astrology: Taurus and Libra. Taurus deals with matters on the material plane, and also tenacious efforts. Libra corresponds to relationships and government organizations, including the military. Resources aligned with government may go awry during a Venus retrograde, or government spending may not be budgeted or appropriated wisely. A review of government budgets is also a possibility during the Venus retrograde.
It is often said that when Venus’ retrogrades she stops making love and decides to make war instead. It is true that many will battle within relationships, yet, I believe a better description of Venus retrograde depends largely on the planetary energies that surround the circumstances of her retrograde. During the retrograde, it is true that Venus will operate on the lowest of octaves, changing our own perspectives of our personal feelings of love. Since this is happening to
everyone, imagine two people who try and communicate, and they aren’t really able to understand the best of their own feelings, much less understand other’s feelings. This is why it is always best to refrain from making decisions about
relationships during this period, and it is so important to never initiate new relationships during the Venus retrograde.
From the material and monetary perspective, since we are not capable of really understanding our “normal” tastes in beauty, we cannot really make correct decisions about our purchases. Other phenomenon surrounding material purchases made during a Venus retrograde include faulty goods, similar to what happens in a Mercury RX with electronics. This year with Venus retrograding during Christmas, who knows if our gifts will be faulty or if we will know if we really like them? What if we only have 30 days to return purchases, yet, the retrograde will continue to February 1st, 2014? I would like to tell you to calm down and give the gift of love which is what Christmas is all about, but as
already noted, love will be distorted.
The greatest gift comes from the designer of our universe. He has authored His plans to include a gift to us in the form of free will. While we are under the planetary influences that he created in the physical world, he also gave us a choice in navigation. So, in understanding the knowledge of His design, I say that the best choice for navigating the Venus retrograde is to:
1. Refrain from ending or beginning relationships
2. Use this time to observe relationships without making decisions.
3. Observe various personality traits of others
4. Refrain from major purchases
5. Expect that everything that you come to believe about someone during the retrograde may change completely when it ends.
6. If you are bored, play a BOARD game-not a mind game.
7. Do NOT have plastic surgery during this time, or even sign a contract with a plastic surgeon. Refrain from all beauty new beauty treatments during this period.
This year's Venus retrograde may bring some wistfulness for Holidays past, and that is ok. We all could use moments in which we are reflective of those that we have lost, times that are gone, and connections that rise again. Neptune is said to be the highest octave of Venus, and Neptune's influence may help you to spiritually connect to those who have passed. If you are experiencing a Neptune transit, this may be entirely possible.
If you like, you may try a simple exercise. Imagine your loved one above the Earth on a higher elevation but within the physical plane of the universe- a place such as the moon. Imagine floating up form Earth to this place in your spiritual body made of light and calling for this person to come to you. Then, visualize them then joining you there in their light body. From there, see yourself trying to embrace them, until you are able to imagine them there intertwined with your light body. When this is accomplished, stay there with them a minute and say all that you need to say to them.
You can do this exercise at any time really. It also doesn't matter if they have passed on or if they are alive. Write down your dreams, if any after utilizing this exercise. This practice will help you to communicate more on a spiritual and psychic level with this person.
When the Venus retrograde ends, hopefully, we will have learned something new about what it really is that we need from our relationships as well as what we contribute to them. Finding the sensitive points that trigger our psychological hang-ups and addictions can also be hoped for. If you have disregarded any astrological advice and initiated a new relationship during the retrograde, you may find yourself miserable when the retrograde is over. The best that you can do then is to check off a lesson learned the hard way.
Happy Holidays to ALL!
