Imagine a night out on the town with a party of 12; the zodiac twelve. The night is going great until an unreasonable person begins to direct their jealous and poisonous intentions toward you. Sometimes the unspoken words of other people with their passive aggressive innuendos can really get to any person with water in their charts. Some of us are born with feelers that can detect a criticism, a slight and downright mean behavior by others, all while we sit around a table smiling over a social night of drinks, slowly seething inside. After all, the water signs of Cancer, Pisces and Scorpio are adept at counteraction through passive aggressive behaviors themselves.
Then of course, there are times when later, for most of us, we play back those nasty little conversations in our heads about the things we SHOULD have said. Harsh experiences with harmful words, thoughts and actions are used as the building blocks for the walls we build to protect ourselves from similar experiences. Now, of course, if you are an outspoken fire sign like Leo, you might have voiced your opinions immediately to the person at fault, quite loudly and preached until the cows came home. You might even drag the perpetrator from the table to have it out the old fashioned way right then and there.
In our storybook situation, we can imagine the reactions of those signs around us seeking to “fix” the situation. Aquarians may take the objective, scientific approach in trying to figure out the behaviors and intentions of the person who is being so vicious, while the sister sign of Libra tries to openly maintain peace. Gemini stands up to throw in a debate about what the person REALLY meant, and Aries is firing up the offender for defense mode. Capricorn and Taurus close out and head home early for the night; this just isn’t their scene. Virgo tries to mother everyone into calming down; after all, these people probably need a few lessons in etiquette. But, where the heck is Sag?
There he is, out on the dance floor, hitting on the some cool chick that is showing him her Henna tats that she picked up on her
sabbatical to Bali. He notices everyone’s eyes on him and comes back to greet the party at the table, bringing his newfound friend with him. Leo, defending your honor, loudly proclaims to him what has just taken place, but Sag takes in all in with a grin. He looks over at you nonchalantly and says “Who cares? Let’s dance!” Suddenly, what seemed so important has just
been minimized. Sag’s devil may care attitude is certainly refreshing, perhaps even maddening at times. After all, Sag has come to this world to focus on more important things. Mainly to maintain hope, faith, and love while having a good time. He simply does not have time to waste on the meer opinions of those who do recognize his own beliefs.
Why am I telling you this quirky little story? In real life, my astrological chart is mainly air, mixed with water and earth. I understand how easy it is to get hung up on the actions of others, considering the contributing planets to my psyche. I am an analyst by nature and I can get lost in spending a great deal of time confounded and confused in my own innocence of the spiteful behavior of others. Yet, I have always admired the lighthearted spirit of Sag, and it rings true with my Aquarian nature. To Sag, the world seems like a colorful place full of big things that deserve their attention and little things that do not. Sometimes this mentality earns Sag the title of “gullible”,when in truth they are inclined to take things at face value; less worry for them! What if we all decided to look at life a little differently, to minimize the drama, and to keep in step with a renewed spirit of purpose? After all, a bump in the road is only a bump, not a mountain.
With The Archer's perspective in mind, I challenge us all today to lighten our load in sight of the greatest adventure yet: life.
